Where did the Civil War begin?
On April 12, 1861 the Confederates began the Civil War by firing shots into Fort Sumter in Charleston, SC. The surrender of Fort Sumter by the Union was the first step into the Civil War.
The battle of Fort Sumter took place after many months of problems within Fort Sumter. This battle was over on April 13th at approximately 1 pm after a truce was made between General Beauregard and Major Anderson.
